The inception of the Space Programme stemmed from the need to streamline operations within Te Ara Hihiko, and subsequently, the entire campus at the College of Creative Arts at Massey University. Te Ara Hihiko stands out from the university’s conventional teaching spaces, boasting two identical open-plan studio floors, each spanning approximately 500 square meters. These spacious studios can accommodate up to 150 students, offering exciting prospects for accommodating large groups, diverse teaching teams, cross-level instruction, and the simultaneous delivery of various courses. To address this challenge, an agile prototyping approach was adopted to develop and test new methods of program delivery while the program itself was evolving. Insights gleaned from this trial phase ultimately influenced the broader campus-wide evolution.
