Experiential/Graphic/Urbanist
I am a post-disciplinary designer based in Aotearoa. My journey began in London’s fringe theatre scene before studying in Visual Communication at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication. I worked for The Independent Newspaper until my curiosity led me to Berlin during the 90s, where I helped shape its emergent club scene and later established the design studio SV Associates. In 2009, I relocated to Aotearoa New Zealand to contribute to the redesign of Massey University’s CoCA design programme. There, my passion for experience design, urban life, and cities grew. After completing a Master of Design I took a leadership role at Wellington City Council. As guardian of the city’s brand and champion of design thinking for cities I developed an even deeper interest in the interplay of urbanism and brand. Joining Isthmus—an integrated design studio—I led city-shaping projects through the interplay of land, people, and culture. Now as an independent consultant I take a transdisciplinary approach that blends graphic, spatial, and urban design to craft holistic experiences within the built environment. Adopting a planet-centric perspective, I thrive in confronting challenges with a proactive attitude, harnessing my problem-solving, networking, and communication skills. I am an active member of the Society of Experiential Graphic Design (SEGD) and co-chair of the Aotearoa chapter.
