Wayfinding at Te Ara Hihiko encourages visitors to spatially decode the building, reducing signage requirements to a minimum. Centrally situated on the Massey University Wellington campus and built into a rapidly sloping section of land, the building allows visitors to enter on three different levels. The wayshowing was required to incorporate the campus-wide system of letters denoting floor levels—in Te Ara Hihiko, visitors are introduced to this concept quickly as they enter the building.
To help inhabit this new environment, the Space Programme was founded. What was learnt here was subsequently applied across the entire campus at the College of Creative Arts at Massey University.
